Artwork for the second season
The second season (蟲師 続章, Mushishi Zoku Shou?, lit. Mushishi: Next Passage) of the anime series aired separately in Spring 2014 and Fall 2014 and covered the rest of the manga's content.
The announcement for the second season was made after the airing of the special "The Shadow That Devours the Sun."
The main cast and staff remain same as they were in the previous season. The opening theme, "Shiver", is performed by English singer-songwriter Lucy Rose.

As Ginko comes to know of the case, he proceeds to offer them advice, as the condition is caused by a Mushi that can connect people's minds. | ||

He goes looking for a huge tree but finding it does not make him happy. | ||
